TD Ready Project 2023 x Bags of Promise
When my co-founder, Brooke, and I first crossed paths, we discovered a shared, unwavering commitment to making a positive impact within our surrounding communities. Despite our diverse backgrounds, our deep-seated passion for assisting those in need, particularly vulnerable youth, brought us together with a common purpose. Recognizing that a comprehensive solution could not be achieved by the efforts of just two individuals, we embarked on a journey to establish Bags of Promise—a beacon of hope and compassion aimed at rallying communities, organizations, and individuals to collectively address the challenges faced by homeless youth.
Throughout the summer, I completed an internship at TD Bank. It didn't take me long to learn that this financial institution was deeply committed to Corporate Citizenship and Social Impact, exemplified by the Advancing Together Ready Project. Each year, various portfolios and departments within the bank come together to support a local initiative. In collaboration with Bags of Promise, my team and I organized our 7th bag drive in support of Native Child and Family Services of Toronto. Recognizing June as National Indigenous History Month, our team generously donated personal hygiene items, socks, and other essential supplies, filling over 30 backpacks. The AT Ready Project provided an opportunity to support Bags of Promise's core belief that every young person deserves dignity, support, and a fair chance at a brighter future.
The impact of our organization extends far beyond simply replacing disposable bags with reusable ones containing basic necessities—it serves as a catalyst for personal growth, empowerment, and renewed hope among the youth we serve. By addressing the root causes of homelessness, raising awareness, and fostering a supportive community, we are dedicated to creating lasting change for young individuals experiencing homelessness.
